Puddle Playground

Today our blog shares with you an instagram picture and mini-essay that a friend wrote who lives half a world away in the far Pacific.  He begins:

So finally we're back on our little Island way out in the ocean after a few weeks of spending time with families and friends.

I snapped a picture today of a boy in our neighborhood playing in a puddle. The children always get excited when it rains because they get to play with their paper boats in these puddles.

Often times I get frustrated with these puddles and grumble... especially when I'm on my way to work. Maybe I should say, most of the time I grumble at puddles.

But seeing these kids enjoy playing does remind me to take life lightly. It reminds me to see positive things in negative circumstances. For me, these are annoying puddles, but for this boy, it's a whole playground full of fun possibilities. My brother phrased it perfectly: "One man's puddle is another boy's ocean."

May we see playgrounds in the puddles.

May we see playgrounds in the puddles that sometimes we find in this journey called life and find the positives among the negatives.
